The Application Process

Psychiatric PA or NP (full-time)

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a licensed  Psychiatric Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric care within a team environment.

This position will work in conjunction with the current psychiatrists, mid-level providers, and other services within the agency.

Office Support Specialist (full-time)

CVH is seeking a full-time, highly organized Office Support Specialist for the Finance Department of a fast-paced healthcare practice serving over 5000 patients per year. Located in downtown Hickory. Office hours:  8 a.m. to  5 p.m.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Management of Payeeship for approximately 40-50 consumers
  • Manage processing of claims for Hospital Discharge program
  • Backup as needed for Accounts Payables functions
  • Backup as needed for daily deposit coding and keying journal entries
  • Purchasing of office supplies as needed
  • Other duties as identified.

Required skills:

  • Knowledge of Social Security regulations for PayeeShip is a plus
  • Experience with Behavioral Health billing preferred
  • Accounts Payable/General Ledger experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic health record
  • Strong computer skills Ability to multitask and work independently

Responsibilities include:

ACT Co-Occurring Specialist (full-time)

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full-time qualified professional/case manager with at least two years of experience to work as part of an ACT team based out of Hickory NC.
This position will provide case management services to individuals who meet the criteria and choose to participate in the Assertive Community Treatment team.
Responsibilities include:
  • Complete initial assessments with individuals
  • Develop treatment plans based on needs identified in the assessment
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Offer case management services including assistance in accessing resources, medication management, and transportation. This individual will carry out rehabilitation and support functions that assist in treatment, substance abuse services, education, support and consultation to families, and crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of a psychiatrist and team leader
  • Work schedule: 8-hour shifts, Mon-Friday, weekends as needed
 
Requirements include:  
  • Must meet Qualified Professional criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services preferred
  • 4 years of experience with SPMI population
  • Certification in SA as CCS, CCAS, or CDAC required (licensure preferred)
  • Driver’s license preferred
Salary: $45,000.00 per year

ACT Team Lead (full-time)

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks an ACT Team Leader.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide effective oversight, direction, and clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and performance appraisals where appropriate. Ensure programs are fully staffed with qualified, trained employees.
  • Ensure effective 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year coverage for individuals served as required by the program.
  • Build and manage an effective and clinically sound team.
  • Serve as a practicing clinician on the Assertive Community Treatment Team and coordinate the activities and services.
  • Lead meetings and disseminate information to other ACTT staff from various sources.
  • Monitors and assesses the quality of services of assigned programs including but not limited to conducting audits of charts, overseeing the peer review process, direct observation of staff, etc..
  • Responsible for marketing the agency and program by developing appropriate referral sources, and by maintaining positive working relationships within the communities served, including individuals, families, staff, monitoring and licensing agencies, organizations, and funders.
  • Attend and actively participate in community and agency meetings as assigned. Implement and monitor budgets as requested/directed by the supervisor.
  • Monitor medical records management and activities of the Assertive Community Treatment Team to ensure compliance with agency policies, Medicaid, and other requirements
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state, and federal training requirements. Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.

Catawba Valley Healthcare seeks a full-time licensed/associate therapist with at least two years of experience to work as part of an ACT team based out of Hickory NC.

Responsibilities include:

Female Recovery Housing Support Staff (full-time)

CVH seeks a Female Recovery Housing Support Staff member who will work within a residential setting with Returning Citizens in a Transitional Housing setting. The goal of the program is to assist the residents in creating sustainable changes to prevent recidivism.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Recovery Housing Coordinator in day-to-day responsibilities with residents.  focus
  • Support the residents moving through a 6-month structured program in a timely manner. During the 6 months, each resident has specific goals to accomplish to address non-medical drivers of health that may contribute to re-offending

Requirements:

  • Minimum Associate Degree (AP) in Human Services or related field and/or NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Case Management
  • Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance. No more than 3 points on current driving record
  • No legal issues (including probation) within the past 5 years

Salary Range: $35,000 – $40,000

Health Equity Certified Peer Support Specialist (full-time)

CVH seeks a Health Equity Certified Peer Support Specialist who will support the Health Equity Coordinator with community-based work.

Responsibilities:

  • Help our uninsured and underinsured people connect with community resources needed to address Social Determinates of Health (SDOH). 
  • Be a critical component of this team by providing direct support to the consumers as the clients may struggle with a variety of Brain Health/Mental health and Substance Use disorders

 Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Certified Peer Support Specialist
  • Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance
  • Good driving record
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Salary Range: $35,000 – $40,000

Reentry Specialist (full-time)

CVH seeks a reentry specialist to work as part of CVH’s Jail Services Programs within the Lincoln or Burke County Detention Centers. This is a fast-paced position and requires a high level of self-sufficiency. Supervision is provided, a strong work ethic and a compassionate personality is needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify individuals who may be eligible for our Transitional Housing Program
  • Making referrals to individuals upon their release from jail to identify and connect with resources within the community that will best support their Recovery process through case management services.
  • Work both within the Detention center and out in the community with individuals and other outside agencies.
  • Some transportation of individuals will be expected

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Case Management, Preferred experience with justice-involved population
  • Minimum NC Certified PSS (CPSS) with at least 12 months in Recovery and/or, Associates Degree (AP) in Human Services or a related field
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and auto insurance
  • Cannot have any legal issues (including probation) within the past 5 years

Salary range: $40,000 – $50,000/year + CVH benefits

    IDD Group Residential Home Paraprofessional – Overnight position

    CVH has immediate openings for 2 full-time paraprofessionals for its adult residential homes.

    Catawba Valley Healthcare (CVH) is a non-profit organization that includes adult residential group home services as one of its programs. The group homes are located in Catawba County, NC. The residents of the group homes are adults with behavioral health challenges.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Overnight shifts. Staff are not awake staff. 7 nights on and 7 nights off.
    • Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
    • Drive a van as needed

    Requirements include:

    • Applicant must have a good driving record

    Hourly wage: $15.00 per hour

    IDD Paraprofessional for Day Program (full-time)

    CVH seeks a full-time paraprofessional for our IDD Center located in the Hickory, NC area.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Assists in providing training to clients with severe or profound developmental disabilities
    • Teach and guide clients to develop basic work, social, and living skills
    • Train clients to acquire skills in independent living, self-help, adaptive behavior, pre-vocational, and community living
    • Assist with the personal hygiene needs of clients
    • Participates in person-centered planning
    • Collects and records client data to ensure accurate record-keeping
    • Transports clients to and from the Life Skills facility using a van

    Requirements include:

    • Minimum of 25 years old to meet driving insurance requirements
    • Must have a working knowledge of the developmental disabled population and must possess the knowledge and skill-building trainings through a variety of training techniques.
    • Experience with this population

    Hourly wage: $15.00 per hour
